Sanctions & trade-risk pre-check

Can I ship this?

Enter where the goods go from and to. Sanctioni checks the route, the goods and — if you add one — the counterparty against official sanctions lists, and explains the result in plain English.

Do the goods end up there? Sanctions rules look at the final destination, not the first unloading point.
+ Add a counterparty, HS code or your company's country· optional

Add the counterparty to also screen the name against all official sanctions lists. Companies, organisations, banks, vessels and aircraft only — please do not enter names of individuals (to check a person, use the official search tools).

With the From country, used to select which sanctions regimes (EU, UK, Swiss, US) to consider.

Screens 7 official lists · 21,878 entries · last checked 7 Nov, 21:01 UTC · Sources

A preliminary screening and documentation aid — not legal advice and not a compliance clearance.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sanctioni free?

Yes. Every check is free and needs no account. Accounts to save your checks are planned.

Which sanctions lists are checked?

The UN Security Council Consolidated List, the EU Consolidated Financial Sanctions List, the UK Sanctions List (FCDO), the Swiss SECO list, and the US OFAC SDN and Consolidated (non-SDN) lists. Each keeps its own legal effect — a match on a US list does not mean the same as a match on a Swiss one.

How current is the data?

Every list is fetched from the authority every six hours (03, 09, 15 and 21 UTC) and validated before use; a download that fails validation never replaces the list in use. The Sources page shows the date of each list and the last check.

Why doesn't Sanctioni screen individuals?

By design. Sanctioni is built for trade — companies, organisations, banks, vessels and aircraft. With personal names, false matches are frequent and can harm real people who share a name with a listed person, so we process no personal data from the lists at all. To check an individual, use the authorities' own free search tools (see “Official tools”).

Is a green result a clearance?

No. It means no indicator was found in the checks listed with the result — nothing more. Sanctioni is a preliminary screening and documentation aid, not legal advice and not a compliance clearance. Licences, ownership and control, and end use are not assessed; the decision stays with you.

Does Sanctioni classify my goods for export control?

No. Goods are checked against keyword and HS-code indicators only. Whether goods are dual-use depends on the export-control lists and their technical parameters, which needs a proper classification. Adding an HS code makes the indicator more reliable.

I only know my leg of the transport — what does the check cover?

Sanctions rules look at where the goods end up, not at the first unloading point. Say whether the goods end up at the destination you entered; if they move on, enter the final destination and it is assessed as such. If the final destination is not known, the result says that only your leg was checked — and asks you to clarify it first where the goods are sensitive or the destination is a frequent transit or re-export point.

What does the country map show?

A graded risk indicator per country from the same route rules the check uses — from comprehensive embargo to a sanctions programme in force. Each rule rests on dated official sources, named on the country's page. It is not a legal statement and says nothing about a specific shipment on its own; that is what the check is for. Every country has its own page under Countries, with the number of list entries and the latest changes.

Where do the latest sanctions come from?

From the official lists themselves — designation dates where a list states them, and changes we detect between two versions of a list — plus official announcements of the authorities, linked to their source. The texts are generated from the data with fixed templates, not written by AI.
