Chile: sanctions and trade risk
As of 7 November 2026, the screened UN, EU, UK, Swiss and US sanctions lists contain 4 companies, organisations, vessels and aircraft linked to Chile.Lists last checked .
Logistics profile: ports, airports, customs, documents, holidays, news ↓
No elevated country indicator for Chile in the route rules Sanctioni uses. That is not a clearance: goods may still be export-controlled, and parties in Chile may still be on a list.
On the sanctions lists
4 entries on the official lists name Chile — as nationality, address, registration or flag. That links them to the country; it says nothing about other companies there. The same company can appear on several lists and is then counted once per list. Individuals are not included — Sanctioni does not process them.

Chile: logistics and trade
Raw material exporter / Pacific gateway
Chile (CL) extends as a narrow strip over approximately 4,300 kilometres along the Pacific coast of South America, from the Atacama Desert to Patagonia, and is a leading raw-material exporter and open Pacific gateway. As a member of the Pacific Alliance and CPTPP, and through bilateral FTAs (EFTA-Chile since 2004, EU-Chile), Chile offers broad market access. Imports are processed electronically through the SICEX single window with the DIN declaration at the Servicio Nacional de Aduanas; VAT (IVA) is 19 percent on the CIF value plus duty, with a general tariff of 6 percent (often 0 percent for FTA goods). The largest container port is San Antonio (approximately 1.8 million TEU; Puerto Exterior project worth USD 4.45 billion approved, Phase 1 capacity 1.5 million TEU, completion approx. 2036), followed by Valparaíso, Antofagasta and San Vicente. The air cargo hub is Santiago (SCL). Ruta 5 (Panamericana) is the main north–south corridor; Paso Los Libertadores connects Chile with Argentina. Copper ore, copper semi-finished products and lithium carbonate dominate exports; fresh fruit, salmon and wine complement the portfolio. Main trading partners are China, the USA, Japan and South Korea.

Logistics questions
Which authority is responsible for customs in Chile?
The Servicio Nacional de Aduanas (Aduana de Chile) is responsible. It handles imports and exports and works closely with the tax authority SII and the inspection bodies SAG (agriculture) and ISP (health).
Which system is used for imports and exports?
Chile uses the SICEX (Sistema Integrado de Comercio Exterior) electronic single window. Imports are processed with the DIN import declaration, and exports with the standard export document DUS (Documento Unico de Salida).
What is the import VAT (IVA) rate?
Chile's value added tax IVA is 19 percent and is levied on the CIF value plus the calculated customs duty. The general customs rate is 6 percent.
What customs rates apply to imports?
The general customs rate is 6 percent on the CIF value. Thanks to Chile's numerous free trade agreements, the rate falls to 0 percent for many originating goods, provided a valid proof of origin is available.
Do Swiss exporters benefit from a free trade agreement?
Yes. The EFTA-Chile Agreement has been in force since 1 December 2004. Preferential proof is provided by an EUR.1 movement certificate or an origin declaration on the invoice; self-declaration is possible.
Which are the most important ports and airports?
The most important container port is San Antonio, with around 1,8 million TEU (2024) and over half of container traffic, followed by Valparaiso. The central air cargo hub is Santiago, Arturo Merino Benitez Airport (SCL).
Which goods are subject to import or export controls?
The Direccion General de Movilizacion Nacional controls weapons, ammunition and dual-use goods via an exporter register. SAG checks agricultural and food imports, and ISP checks health and pharmaceutical goods.
Which logistics risks should be considered?
Chile is stable and well developed, but lies in an earthquake and tsunami zone along the Pacific coast. The long distances and the fruit export peak season from November to March can at times strain reefer capacity and ports.
